MEDIATION

Mediation is used to resolve disputes between two or more parties. The mediator assists the parties to negotiate a settlement of the issues involved in the dispute. Mediation can be used in a wide variety of domains, such as environmental, workplace, commercial, community, and family matters.

Mediation is a form of alternative dispute resolution, and is a structured, interactive process in which a mediator assists disputing parties to resolve conflict. It is a “party-centred” process that examines the issues involved, by focussing on the interests, needs and rights, and of the parties. The mediator uses a wide variety of techniques to guide the process in a constructive direction and to help the parties find their optimal solution.

As a qualified mediator with many years of experience, I am able to both to assist clients participating in mediations, and to assist with the resolution of disputes, particularly environmental disputes, as the mediator. I am an associate of the Arbitrators and Mediators Institute of New Zealand.
