PUBLIC LAW

Public Law is the law which governs the relationship between the state, in the form of the government and government agencies (including local authorities), and the people. Public law also governs the relationship between individuals directly, as it relates to society as a whole.

Public law is important because it serves to protect individuals in the unequal relationship that exists between government and the public. People who are unhappy with decisions of authoritative bodies can seek judicial review of those decisions through the Courts.

My experience in environmental law and with public, local government and rural law generally means I am well placed to provide legal assistance for farmers and others who run into difficulties dealing with “government” in its many forms, and who might want to question and challenge the decisions “government” makes.
